Greening of the NTC

This year, NTEN has committed to making the NTC a more sustainable event. In 2014, we are committed to reducing the NTC's environmental impact as well as increasing our social benefit. This year we would like to invite NTC attendees to be part of our sustainability program, and we have been working with an NTC Sustainability Committee to develop a few suggestions for you to consider when planning your presence at the event.

Of course, we encourage all of our attendees to ride share, use public transit, and develop less impactful measures to reduce their carbon footprint when attending the NTC. If you do something sustainable at the NTC this year like ride your bike, take a bus or train, or develop a car share instead of flying, please tweet us your picture showing us how you're reducing your impact using our #NTCGreen and we will post your picture to our sustainability page!

Getting to the Washington Marriott Wardman Park

D.C. Area Airports

Three airports service the Washington, D.C. area:

Driving to the Wardman Park Marriott

If you plan to drive to the 14NTC, please note that daily parking is currently $42/day* and parking is limited. We encourage our 14NTC attendees to use the Metro (the Marriott Wardman Park is located at the Woodley Park station on the DC Metro's Red Line) or park and ride areas if you are traveling from the local extended area.

* Parking rates subject to change without notice.

Metro Rail and Bus

You can see that there are many transportation options in D.C., but by far, the most efficient and inexpensive way to get around is the D.C. Metro System, and the Marriott Wardman Park hotel is located across the street from the Woodley Park station on the Metro's Red Line. Here are some additional helpful maps of the city.

Metro rail and bus

Metro rail and bus operates one of the largest public transportation systems in the country. The closest stop to the NTC is the Woodley Park Red Line stop, down the street from the hotel.  Fares range depending on destination but you can search for your fare using the Fare Finder.

If you plan to use Metro regularly during your stay, consider purchasing a refillable SmarTrip transit card.  Place your card over the green arrow reader at the station turnstile, and away you go. Trips taken using a SmarTrip card are a $1 cheaper than those with conventional paper tickets! (And help reduce the amount of paper we're using at NTC!)

All DC Metro transit modes are accessible. For more information, contact the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Union Station is also the stop for the Amtrak, which connects with Amtrak hubs from around the country. It also connects with the BWI airport (with one way fares ranging from $10-$45), so that you can fly into BWI, take the Amtrak to Union Station, and catch the Red Line to the conference hotel.

Taxis and Shuttles

Shuttle and cab services are available anywhere in the D.C. metro area. Be aware that due to traffic congestion in the D.C. area, it is often faster to take the Metro. Taxis from the Marriott to Reagan National Airport - DCA (9 miles) are approximately $20 one-way, to Dulles International Airport - IAD (25 miles) approximately $75 one-way, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport - BWI (33 miles) is approximately $100/direction.

- Super Shuttle
